The landowners have de- clared that the decision of the National Territory Council (KKT) to cancel part of the mosque permit brings about the breakdown of the agree- ment they have with the Mus- lim Community and auto- matically blocks the Great Mosque project. Alban Bala, nephew of the Kruja family, which owns over 3,000 square meters of land in Namazgja Square, on part of whose land the Great Mosque of Tirana will be built, has said that with the decision taken by the KKT the removal and construction of the mosque is halted, since the agreement they had with the Muslim Community was disturbed. During an inter- view for Gazeta, Bala clarified the details of the notarial con- tract they had and the conse- quences arising from the KKT decision. “The total construc- tion area in Namazgja is about 9,000 square meters, of which over 3,000 square meters are the property of the Kruja fami- ly, which was returned to them in 1994....
