DECISION, THE ENTITIES VIOLATED THE LAW ON THE PERCENTAGE OF WOMEN ON LISTS CEC FINES 3 PARTIES “PD-PS-LSI nominated too few women” Failure to meet the gender criterion, the Socialist Party is penalized with 6 million lek, the Democratic Party and the Socialist Movement for Integration with 4 million new lek each The Central Election Commission, which met yesterday afternoon, approved the multi-name lists of candidates of the political parties registered for the 23 June elections. Thus, the lists of 12 parties were approved, including the two major parties, the Democratic Party and the Socialist Party. During the review of the candidates’ lists, the CEC noticed that the main parties PD, PS, but also the Socialist Movement for Integration, had not met the gender representation criterion in several constituencies, and fined them. According to the CEC, the Socialist Party did not respect the gender criterion, that is, women’s representation in constituencies such as Gjirokastër, Elbasan, Durrës, Kukës, Dibër, so it was decided to impose an administrative fine of 6 million lek. Likewise, the Democratic Party did not meet the gender representation criterion in Elbasan, Kukës, Dibër, Berat, and was fined 4 million lek.
