With his voice trembling, under the threat of violence, F.Xh, 23, who was being held hostage in the bathroom of a bar in Tirana, called his father and asked him to pay off the debt to some of his friends, otherwise he risked being killed. The shocking phone call forced the young man’s father to borrow the money from relatives and respond to the wrongdoers, and just at the moment when he was going to hand over the money, the police intervened and arrested them. The Tirana Prosecutor’s Office has now completed the investigation, submitting to court the criminal file against the accused, A. Kolpepaj, M. Kshtenjari and B. Vata, accused of “self-justice” and “unlawful deprivation of liberty”, committed through violence and in complicity. Continues on page 8
