Do not force us to condemn you publicly The United States of America, through a MEMO addressed to the official authorities in Tira- na, warn of the need to be careful with nationalist declarations; otherwise, “do not make us condemn you publicly!”, it says. Part of the content of the text was made public yesterday on the “Top-Story” show, by journalist Sokol Balla. Meanwhile, “Gazeta Shqiptare” today publishes the full, uncensored contents of the MEMO. We are deeply disappointed and concerned that Albanian leaders are moving away from the traditional construc- tive role that Albania has played in the region. The recent public statements made by Albanian politi- cians regarding the Presheva monument issue have gone beyond the line of responsi- ble discussion, into counter- productive and potentially dangerous rhetoric.
