DECISION, THE ENTITIES VIOLATED THE LAW ON THE PERCENTAGE OF WOMEN ON LISTS CEC FINES 3 PARTIES “PD-PS-LSI nominated too few women” Failure to comply with the gender criterion: the Socialist Party is penalized with 6 million lekë, the Democratic Party and the Socialist Movement for Integration with 4 million new lekë each The Central Election Commission, meeting yesterday afternoon, approved the multi-member lists of candidates of the political parties registered for the 23 June elections. Thus, the lists of 12 parties were approved, including the two major parties, the Democratic Party and the Socialist Party. During the examination of the candidate lists, the CEC noted that the main parties PD, PS, as well as the Socialist Movement for Integration, had not met the gender-representation criterion in some districts, and fined them. According to the CEC, the Socialist Party did not respect the gender criterion, that is, women’s representation, in districts such as: Gjirokastër, Elbasan, Durrës, Kukës, Dibër, therefore it was decided to impose an administrative sanction of a 6 million lekë fine. Likewise, the Democratic Party also failed to meet the gender-representation criterion in Elbasan, Kukës, Dibër, Berat, and was fined 4 million lekë.
