Thus, the lists of 12 parties were approved, including the two major parties, the Democratic Party and the Socialist Party. During the examination of the candidate lists, the CEC noted that the main parties PD, PS, as well as the Socialist Movement for Integration, had not met the gender-representation criterion in some districts, and fined them. According to the CEC, the Socialist Party did not respect the gender criterion, that is, women’s representation, in districts such as: Gjirokastër, Elbasan, Durrës, Kukës, Dibër, therefore it was decided to impose an administrative sanction of a 6 million lekë fine. Likewise, the Democratic Party also failed to meet the gender-representation criterion in Elbasan, Kukës, Dibër, Berat, and was fined 4 million lekë.
