The process faced politically motivated obstacles” By LORENC RABETA A few days ago Parliament approved the amendments to the law on the legalization of buildings constructed without permits, which opens the way to the amnesty of informal structures built after 2006. In an interview with “Gazeta Shqiptare”, the Deputy Minister of Public Works and Transport, Flamur Kuçi, explains how the new law will treat 80-100 thousand new properties awaiting formalization. While explaining that around 100 thousand Albanian families will benefit from the legal changes, the deputy minister emphasizes that special care was taken while drafting the new legal framework to ensure that informal structures built on the land of lawful owners are not included in the legalization process. In the interview, Kuçi stresses that out of around 200,000 files subject to evaluation for legalization, nearly half are in the final stage of approval.
