The American ambassador, Aleksandër Arvizu, said yesterday that Albania is not yet ready for visa-free travel with the USA. He expressed this position yesterday afternoon during a discussion with top students at the University of Tirana, where he had been invited together with the EU ambassador, Ettore Sequi, to speak about elections and democracy. The U.S. ambassador explained: “There are some criteria that make a country eligible for the visa liberalization program, and one of them is the visa refusal rate, which must be below 3%. In the last calendar year, the Albanians’ refusal rate was 40.5%, and if you look at the last few years, it has not been below 30% and has not gone above 45%. So a statistician could tell me what the probability is. Facts are facts. Another thing I can base this on is that we do not negotiate like the EU does. Maybe you Albanians are used to, every six months, someone comes from Brussels and tells you that you have done...
