REFORM, MPs IN GOVERNMENT MEETINGS

POWERS ARE EXPANDING, “OPEN DOORS” AT EVERY LEVEL OF THE EXECUTIVE The old parliament’s “testament” changes the “status of the MP.” Those elected to the new Assembly are allowed to be present at meetings of all institutions Members of the new Assembly will be able to take part in government meetings and in all institutions. A change to the “status of the MP” gives those elected by the people’s list the right to be present at meetings of the Council of Ministers when matters affecting the district where they were elected are being discussed there. Moreover, under the new status, MPs have the right to be present in any central or local institution when issues raised by them are being examined. “The MP has the right to take part in meetings of the Council of Ministers, in ministries or in other central and local institutions, when they examine issues raised by him or her and related to the district where he or she was elected,” states Article 9 of the status of the MP, which was voted on in Parliament on May 30 of this year, that is, at the last parliamentary session.
