By KLODIANA LALA “I wish you good health, sir, see that you sort out that matter on Wednesday for me, because you are a godsend...” This is just one of the messag- es that the convicted murderer Kastriot Kola sent to the for- mer director of Shënkoll prison in Lezhë, Valentin Miri, whom he asked to sign the reward leave, after having paid the sum of 300 euros. The Tirana pros- ecutor's office has concluded the investigations against the defendant Miri, against whom it has brought charges of “Abuse of office” and “Passive corrup- tion”. The file of the prosecu- tion body reveals all the corrup- tion schemes of the former di- rector of Shënkoll prison, who, in exchange for amounts rang- ing from 10,000 lek to 300 eu- ros, signed reward leaves for inmates, as well as allowed the use of mobile phones in cells. In one case, Valentin Miri had taken the money to grant leave to Kastriot Kola, but he could not sign it because the prison doctor did not sign.
