Since 6 July 2009, the General Directorate of Taxes has refused audits from the High State Audit, causing this administration not to be subject to monitoring. The multi-year blockade has turned into a “cold war” between the Tax Administration and the High State Audit, which since that period has repeatedly requested that the administration submit to audits under the law. “The High State Audit has been repeatedly obstructed by the General Directorate of Taxes, which has not allowed its employees and the Regional Tax Directorates to make available to KLSH auditors the documentation requested by them and deemed necessary for the implementation of audit programs,” reads the latest KLSH report on the tax administration.
