Since 6 July 2009, the General Directorate of Taxes has refused audits by the Supreme State Audit, causing this administration not to be subject to monitoring. The multi-year blockade has turned into a “cold war” between Taxes and the Supreme State Audit, which since that period has repeatedly demanded that the administration be subject to audits under the law. “The Supreme State Audit has been repeatedly obstructed by the General Directorate of Taxes, which has not allowed monitoring with regard to the Regional Tax Directorates, nor has it made available to KLSH auditors the documentation they requested and considered necessary for the implementation of the audit programmes,” reads the latest KLSH report on the Tax administration.
