Around 20 thousand people,
who are currently
insured with a salary
higher than 95,130 lek per
month, are expected to be affected
by the changes in the health
insurance scheme. The Health
Insurance Fund
(former ISKSH) has proposed
removing the ceiling for the
maximum salary, which means
that these people will pay
contributions on the basis of the
declared average salary.
Everything is explained by the
Minister of Health, Ilir Beqaj,
who also states that other changes
have been proposed for self-
employed people. It seems
that they will benefit from a reduction in the amount of health
insurance, while in this
interview, given to “Gazeta
Shqiptare”, Beqaj explains in
detail what will happen with the
payment of these insurance
contributions. Meanwhile, the changes appear
to open the way for progressive
taxation and the principle that “the
rich should pay more than
the poor”, promised by Prime Minister
Edi Rama during the election
