Tirana police arrested the mayor and the Kamëz secretary yesterday afternoon for abuse of office and violation of equality in tenders, a criminal offense punishable by up to 7 years in prison. Police sources explain that the incident occurred at around 18:15, in a bar-pastry shop near the Presidency, for which the police had information that the head of the Kamëz Municipality was there. Specifically, it concerns a violation of equality in the tender for the construction of the road “Valias i Ri-Laknas”, worth 80 million lek, carried out in May 2013. Meanwhile, the director of the legal office of the Kamëz Municipality, Ali Hoti, was also declared wanted for the same accusation. Referring to the official information from the Tirana Prosecution Task Force, it is learned that this body has reached the conclusion that the two officials committed unlawful acts...
