Tirana police arrested the mayor and the Kamëz secretary yesterday afternoon for abuse of office and violation of equality in tenders, a criminal offense punishable by up to 7 years in prison. Police sources explain that the incident occurred at around 18:15, in a bar-pastry shop near the Presidency, for which the police had information that the head of the Kamëz Municipality was there. Specifically, it concerns a violation of equality in the tender for the construction of the road “Valias i Ri-Laknas”, worth 80 million lek, carried out in May 2013. Meanwhile, the director of the legal office of the Kamëz Municipality, Ali Hoti, was also declared wanted for the same accusation.
