Lulzim Basha: Rama’s New Year gift, the tax increase By VALENTINA MADANI After many debates and discussions, the Parliament of Albania approved last night, with 82 votes in favour from the majority and 27 votes against from the opposition, the 2014 budget and the fiscal package. Prime Minister Edi Rama described the 2014 budget as the budget that has finally ensured the stopping of the country’s ruin. According to him, this budget secures what he calls the “settlement of the debts left by the previous government.” Parliament also overwhelmingly rejected the amendments proposed by the Democrats. During the vote, with more than 79 votes, the amendments proposed mainly by PD deputies were voted down. Meanwhile, with only 1 vote against, the deputies approved the amendment proposed by PDIU deputy Tahir Muhedini, which calls for the allocation of 40 million lek for the construction of monumental cemeteries in Kllogjer to commemorate the massacres...
