Candidate status was conditioned on Parliament not voting on the three conditions By DARINA TANUSHI Senior representatives of the American state, as well as well-known analysts, discussed yesterday the elections in Albania at a meeting titled “June Parliamentary Elections - a test for democracy in Albania!”, in Washington. Jonathan Moore, Director of the Office for Southern Central European Affairs at the State Department, called on Albanian political parties to conclude the elections on 23 June. Meanwhile, former ambassador Withers declared yesterday that the governing majority would steal the elections, while Moore replied by saying that when he was in Albania all sides, including the opposition, had declared that they would win the elections. Rob Benjamin, from the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, only confirmed that the elections in Albania will be monitored and that if there are no standards there will also be criticism. “The elections are important for democracy and progress.
