By VALENTINA MADANI The ballots with which the PD membership voted for the new head of the PD in the 22 July elections will not be burned. They may be archived at the central headquarters of the Democratic Party. The head of the Commission for the Organization and Control of Electoral Operations, Gjergj Lezhja, confirmed yesterday to “Gazeta Shqiptare” that the ballots will not be burned and that they are currently at the party headquarters. “The Commission has already completed the process, everything is closed and the ballots have not been burned. They are at the party,” Lezhja declared. In the late hours of the evening of 22 July, in the hall of the Palace of Congresses, the members of the Commission for the Organization and Control of Electoral Operations, also known as the “KQZ”, (a structure set up within the PD), received the first ballot boxes for the new PD chairman, and then began counting right there. 100 ballot boxes were distributed across the districts, while counting was carried out in Tirana.
