Just last week 34,000 real estate properties were registered in our offices” By LORENC RABETA In an interview for “Gazeta Shqiptare”, the head of the Real Estate Registration Office, Arben Qirjako, explains the effects produced by the new property registry system in Albania. According to the chief registrar, together with the process of initial registration of properties and the transfer of property-related transactions to notarial offices, the issue of property has taken an important step toward greater security and transparency in title deeds. Qirjako also explains the impact that the new developments have on the legalization process for informal buildings as well as on the physical restitution-compensation process, which is expected to begin very soon. In a statement made a few days ago he said that Albania was classified by the World Bank as the first country in the Europe and Central Asia region to have designed and developed the Computerized Real Estate Registration System...
