Since 6 July 2009, the General Directorate of Taxes has refused audits by the Supreme State Audit, preventing this administration from being monitored. The multi-year blockade has turned into a “cold war” between the Tax Administration and the Supreme State Audit, which since that time has continuously requested that the administration be audited in accordance with the law. “The Supreme State Audit has been repeatedly obstructed by the General Directorate of Taxes, which did not allow its presence and that of the Regional Tax Directorates, so that they could make available to the KLSH auditors the documentation requested by them and considered necessary for the implementation of the audit programs,” states the final KLSH report on the Tax Administration.
