The European Union Commissioner for Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship, Vivian Reding, believes that Albania’s focus now should be on the structural reform of the justice system in order to better preserve its independence. According to her, although there has been progress in reforming the justice system, Albania still has a long way to go because the gap remains regardless of both the legislative framework and the implementation of the law.
“Some measures are still on hold and a full assessment of the reform is very difficult because of the lack of specific indicators,” Reding emphasizes in this exclusive interview for “Gazeta Shqiptare”.
