The Director General cannot return to the police The new law on the State Police, which will soon be discussed in the parliamentary committees, makes a complete reform of the promotion system in the police. “Gazeta Shqiptare” today publishes the detailed draft with the criteria that every police officer must meet in order to be promoted in rank. “At present, the ranks do not reflect the same responsibilities, despite the fact that the financial treatment is the same. Many functions in the State Police have high and identical ranks, while the responsibility is different and, in some cases, they have little or no responsibility”, it says in the report accompanying the law submitted to Parliament. According to the document approved on 18 June by the government, this draft better defines career progression through a rank system, by revising the role of ranks in the State Police and aligning ranks with the function and then with financial treatment...
