The substance of the article is not true The Speaker of Parliament, Ilir Meta, has canceled his planned visit to the United States because of the diplomatic meeting schedule in Tirana. Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan will be in Tirana on 14 May and, in a special address, will greet the Parliament of Albania. Meta’s visit to Washington had been scheduled for that very date. The postponement of the transatlantic flight was commented on by the opposition as a slammed door in Albania’s face because of its government. “He has been denied the visit and all the meetings have been canceled,” wrote yesterday the official voice of the PD, “Rilindja Demokratike.” Everything is linked to “the oil trade that Albania carried out with Iran by breaking the UN embargo,” explains the PD newspaper. And further: “Does the refusal of Meta’s visit to the USA have to do with the return of Enverist symbols in the country with the approval of the governing majority?”, asks rhetorically the former deputy foreign minister,...
