The head of the IMF mission to Albania, Nadeem Ilahi, said in an interview with “Voice of America” radio that this amount will help the Albanian government pay off its high debt. How will these funds be used? The funds do not have a specific destination. They are given to the Ministry of Finance to use according to its needs. Of course, in these talks we discussed a larger budget restructuring, which will include our view of how Albania should act with its debt in order to reduce it over the years. This assistance will help them create room to ease the burden of servicing the high debt.
