We were happy that he had been released from prison and was rejoining his family. He left by taxi around 10:15 p.m. I left so as not to see him again.” This is what Mihane Tollia, the mother of Arben Tollia, told police yesterday. A few minutes later he was ambushed and executed, just 100 meters from his home in the village of Xhafzotaj. A day after the event, official sources from the Durrës County Police Directorate stated that an intensive investigation is underway to identify the two people who carried out Tollia’s execution. According to these sources, 22 people have been escorted and questioned. These include eyewitnesses, relatives, neighbors, as well as people who had met the victim during the last two weeks (after his release from prison).
