In the long-term plan, in 2080 the age will be equalized at 70 for both genders By LORENC RABETA According to the World Bank, Albania faces the necessity of reforming the pension scheme and there are two options to do so: the first consists of maintaining the current scheme while making it possible to increase collected contributions in order to guarantee payment to beneficiaries; the second option is the complete elimination of contributions and the establishment of a social pension for every citizen above a certain age. The two options for reforming the pension scheme were presented through the Public Finance Analysis report, made public yesterday. “Within the two options there are many sub-options; we have presented only one of the sub-options. Once the government chooses one of the directions, the options can be modified, while the impact of each one can also be projected.
