Forensic Medicine experts in Albania have been unable to determine whether the heart that was brought to Albania by a prosecutor and an expert, after having been kept in Greece, belongs to Kareli or not. “Because of the medicines and morphine used in Greece for the examinations, it is not possible to determine the DNA, and therefore we cannot determine whether the heart organ is or is not that of Ilia Kareli,” says the response that Forensic Medicine sent back to the Fier prosecution office. To take Ilia Kareli’s heart from Greece, a prosecutor and a Forensic Medicine expert traveled there, after the organ had been kept in Greece on the claim that an expert examination had to be carried out. However, despite having managed to bring it back to Albania, it still could not be determined whether the heart is Ilia Kareli’s or belongs to another person, which raises... On page 7
