The Organization of the Greek Ethnic Minority, the Party of the Union for Human Rights and the Republican Party in Himarë officially announce the decision for civil non-compliance with Law No. 7501 “On the allocation of agricultural land for use,” declaring that “the people of Himarë recognize only the properties inherited from their grandfathers, based on Article 41 of the Constitution of Albania.” Through a three-point “ultimatum” addressed to the Albanian government on 19 June 2014, the holding of a local referendum is also announced, “in which the people of Himarë will express their will to decide their future,” should the proposal for merging the Municipality of Himarë with the Lukovë commune into a separate administrative unit not be taken into consideration.
