The fate of hundreds of buildings remains a mystery By KLODIANA LALA The head of the Rrashbull Municipality, Hysen Gashi, and five other officials of this municipality were taken into custody yesterday, as they are accused of abuse of office. Three other members of the KRT will be investigated while at liberty, as the court imposed on them only the precautionary measure of “compulsory appearance”. “The officials are accused of abuse of office in granting building permits in the sand belt in the Shkëmbi i Kavajës area. The investigation has found that, in at least 16 cases, these officials granted permits for the construction of multi-storey buildings in blatant violation of the law, in this area where construction is absolutely not allowed, based on the relevant decisions of the National Council for the Regulation of the Territory of Albania (KKRTRSH),” the prosecution file states. According to the prosecution, the investigation into the officials began in February 2014, following information from the regional directorate, which reported that in one of the constructions in the Shkëmbi i Kavajës area...
