The testimony given by Ardian Bitraj about the way he managed to steal the money, and also the order to spend it all gambling, has raised doubts within the investigation group. Official sources from the prosecutor’s office say that, based on the testimony the Bank of Albania employee gave to the prosecution, there are suspicions that his statement is false. This is because prosecutors believe Bitraj constructed his testimony mainly to have a well-thought-out alibi to hide the real route by which the money stolen from the treasury vault at the bank ended up. In addition, the suspicion of the investigative group was raised because all along, the 45-year-old denies that there were any other accomplices in this whole story.
