A saving of 120 thousand new lek By OLA MITRE Self-employed people in rural areas can save up to 120 thousand lek from the waiver of late-payment penalties on social insurance contributions, which are valid for buying 21 years and three months of insurance period toward an old-age pension.” The information is made public by the Deputy Director of the Social Insurance Institute, Astrit Hado, who, in an interview given to “Gazeta Shqiptare,” also explains, among other things, the amount of late-payment penalties for farmers in mountainous and lowland areas. “The late-payment penalties for the entire period (from 1993-2014) are 120,800 lek for the lowland area and 80,000 lek for the mountainous area. This means that all farmers who benefit from the waiver, which is in force until 31 December 2014, will not pay this amount. Those self-employed in agriculture will only have to pay the amount of social insurance contributions for the period they want,” Hado stated. On page 11
