The draft law proposed by the Ministry of Defence, “On discipline in the Armed Forces,” sparked debate among majority MPs at yesterday’s meeting of the parliamentary Committee on Laws. Socialist MP Pandeli Majko put forward the idea that military personnel should have the right not to obey unlawful orders from superiors. But the proposal was opposed by LSI MP Spartak Braho. “The military person’s right to oppose unlawful orders must be defined. We ask the military not to post even photos on Facebook, but we must give them the right to oppose unlawful orders. This is a debate that has been opened in all modern armies,” Majko said. “With your proposal we will make a mess of the army. The military person’s right to oppose the orders of a superior would undermine military discipline,” Braho replied. But Socialist MP Bashkim Fino also confirmed he would vote against
