The arrival in Tirana of MEP Eduard Kukan and his meetings today with Prime Minister Edi Rama, opposition leader Lulzim Basha and the head of Parliament, Ilir Meta, are expected to finalize the European Parliament’s final efforts to reach an agreement between the parties and bring the opposition back to Parliament. Therefore, today is expected to be decisive for resolving the political deadlock in the country, where for several weeks the majority and the opposition have been negotiating to reach a pact that would make it possible for the PD and its allies to return to Parliament after 15 months of absence. The European Parliament was involved in bringing the parties to the negotiating table, mandating two MEPs to take on the negotiations with the parties.
