The Appeals Court leaves Klevis Bejtaj in prison; the student denies the charges By KLODIANA LALA The file of Klevis Bejtaj is unsealed, the nephew of Ardian Bitraj, former head of the Stock Cash Office at the State Treasury, who is suspected of stealing 713 million lek. In the Tirana court decision, which imposed the security measure of “arrest in prison” on Bejtaj, all the evidence and facts are listed, on the basis of which Bitraj’s nephew remains in prison. The file highlights the fact that Bejtaj met his uncle, Ardian Bitraj, in front of building “X” in Linzë, at a time when the former head of the Stock Cash Office was coming out from there with money hidden on his body, a fact stressed by the prosecution, which appears to be linked to the major scandal of theft at the Bank of Albania. “From the study of the data documented by the judicial police and the checks carried out by the prosecutor, it results that on 21 July 2014, at the First Instance Court, the criminal proceedings were registered against Continues on page 7
