Prime Minister Edi Rama announced stronger reforms, as a positive response to the decision of the EU Council of Foreign Ministers to grant the country candidate status. Only a few minutes after this decision, the prime minister, together with the minister for Integration, appeared before the media, describing it as an achievement, but not the end of the road toward full membership in the European family. Prime Minister Rama thanked all the ministers in turn and gave special thanks to the Speaker of Parliament, Ilir Meta, for everything he has been able to guarantee. “In December we did not succeed, not because perhaps they were not heard loudly enough, but because in some countries fear prevailed ahead of the European elections, as well as disappointment in recent years from Albania’s poor performance. Status is like an engagement, engagement has conditions, because without meeting the conditions you cannot get married. The challenge is becoming bigger, not smaller,” Rama said....
