The latest victim of mafia-style attacks is Baki Xhabafiti, 40, a man with a criminal record. The serious incident happened around 5:00 p.m. in the center of Vorë, in front of the town hall, when the “Renault” vehicle with license plate AA 154 AZ exploded and as a result the 40-year-old Xhabafiti lost his life. Police sources said that the 500 grams of C4 explosive charge was detonated remotely through a mobile phone device. The victim Xhabafiti, first cousin of Shkëlqim (Çim) Xhabafiti, known as the tough man of Selita (killed in 1998), is not a stranger to the police, as he is suspected of involvement in serious crimes. The leads being investigated by the prosecutor’s office are numerous, ranging from an execution over blood feud, a dispute over trafficking deals, to a killing over property conflicts.
