Financial accounts are being closed with the old administrative units. There will be 1,250 fewer administrative employees and 4,900 councillors, who were paid 10% of the mayor’s salary

Finance Minister Shkëlqim Cani signs the order to close the accounts of the local government units that will be merged under the territorial reform. As a result, around 6,200 people are left without jobs and the state budget will save around 6 billion lek. Dismissed from work are 450 councillors and around 1,250 administrative employees.
