Two months ago I had met the writer at “Bar Juvenilja”, where he sits every day with his publisher Bujar Hudhri, while he is staying in Tirana.
At the end of a long conversation interrupted by the photos of readers who come and greet him, I asked him whether this time we would do an interview. Ismail Kadare told me no. He said it very politely, but even this “light as a feather task” weighed on me. Despite all the reasons and non-reasons he had for not giving an interview...
