It was unlike the previous dramas and therefore, perhaps, the most bitter one too. A drawing in a French newspaper of those days captured the essence of the event in a shocking way. One head of the two-headed eagle, the symbolic bird of the Albanians, was trying to strangle the other head. The savage March of 1997 will enter the history of this country as the March of suicide. It is by no means an exaggeration to say that Albania tried to commit suicide. Was that worthy of a people who have lived for thousands of years in this difficult world?
