Skënderbeu also dealt with this Mehmet, who waged many wars in defense of Albania’s freedom. Mehmet demanded tribute, but Skënderbeu did not give it to him. Then Mehmet sent an army of 30,000 men to Epirus under the command of commander Hamzai (Amesi), while with Persia he formed an alliance to deal mainly with Skënderbeu. When he learned of this new influx of Turks, he climbed into the mountains and built a new town, right on the road the enemy would take, exactly on Mount Modrisë (Modrzysz), from where they would give the alarm, by cannon shot, that the enemy was coming. Skënderbeu placed the warriors in hidden places, in valleys and at the foot of the mountains, hoping to catch the Turks at bends and narrow paths....
