In the district of Gjirokastër, Blendi Pelinxhi is known by the nickname Gaqaqi. He has now been in Tepelena prison for several days. A criminal case file has been prepared against him. The charge is fraud: his actions took place in the highest-ranking institution, at work, and among various individuals.
In Tepelena, “Gagaqi” presented himself at the Public Order Branch as a deputy minister and made fake calls as a deputy minister from the telephones at this institution.
In Delvinë he mobilized an entire military unit by presenting himself as a senior official of the Ministry of Defense. But the act that put him at risk and served as the trap for his fraudulent scheme was registering the names of eight people from Tepelena as representatives of the Italian Embassy, while also collecting sums of money from people who wanted to be included on the list he had drawn up. The list also included party leaders from the Tepelena district, naturally also duped by “Gagaqi.”
This “character,” so “rich” in this kind of fraud, has now been waiting for months for his trial date. For months, the court authorities have been unable to set a trial date because the witnesses do not appear. So Blendi Pelinxhi is suffering because those he himself defrauded are not showing up.
