Immediate increase in the price of newsprint
In recent days, the price of newsprint has risen dramatically on the Albanian market.
From 550 dollars per ton, it reached the absurd figure of 800 dollars per ton—beyond what Albanian newspapers can afford. This price increase is due to shortages on the Macedonian, Bulgarian, and Russian markets.
Alongside the multitude of taxes imposed by their state, Albanian newspapers must also cope with this price increase, which will place such a burden on newsroom finances that they may go bankrupt or make one last attempt to survive: raise their prices once again.
