—A 24-year-old woman in Korçë dies of a drug overdose It is not only patients who die on hospital premises; hospital staff do too. At the end of the first shift, at around 13:45 on Friday, nurse M.K. from the Surgery ward at the city hospital was found dead in a bathtub. Rumours are circulating that 24-year-old M.K. died as a result of taking a drug overdose. The service staff, without denying this cause, continue to evade the disturbing truth, but the circumstances of the death make one believe this version. According to a colleague of hers, M.K. was exemplary at work, but on Friday, at the end of her shift, she strangely locked herself in the bathroom annex and would not come out. We had to look for her and then break down the door, the witness continued, but the sight that appeared before us was chilling. Our colleague’s lifeless body was lying in the bathtub, while the first signs of bruising had begun to appear on her face. This indicates that death had occurred an hour earlier. The victim herself had shown no symptoms of any dangerous illness and had made no call for help. In the absence of medical staff on Saturday, as well as of the experts who carried out the autopsy, the cause of death cannot be fully confirmed. It is understood that the hospital is investigating the circumstances of this mysterious death, and the autopsy analyses have been sent to Tirana for verification.
