“I killed him because he wanted to contaminate the water in my well”
Sentenced to 5 years in prison
He shot at a fellow villager because the latter had tried to contaminate the drinking water in his well. The strange episode, which took place in the village of Picollë, Tirana, in July of last year, had not, in fact, caused the victim’s immediate death. For this reason, the defendant, Hamit Skeja, was sentenced to only five years.
The victim had refused to let the defendant, who had come to fill a bucket with water for cooking, muddy the “sacred” water, which was used only for drinking and cooking. The argument was then followed by violence, and the victim ended up in the capital’s hospital, fatally wounded. The assailant was in prison. After a few weeks, the victim left the hospital, but later died from his wounds.

Today: the newspaper “Aleanca” with 24 pages
Aleanca, the first party newspaper in Albania, is expanding opportunities for communication with readers. Its first issue, with 24 pages, comes out today. In its pages, this editorial team promises more analysis of political and social events and phenomena by Albania’s best-known intellectuals and politicians.
At the same time, Aleanca, with 24 pages, promises more space for culture, sport and the information Albanian readers need.
Today, then, its first issue.
“Koha Jonë” wishes “Aleanca” success in this new format, which it has adopted on the eve of the election campaign.
