FIER - Border police have discovered the largest vessel used to transport illegal migrants.
A 50-seat motorboat was impounded in recent days at the mouth of the Vjosa, precisely at the smugglers’ preferred spot. After strong measures were taken along the Vlorë coastline, the mouth of the Vjosa became one of the main points for trafficking illegal migrants. Previously, the Fier police had impounded around 7 vessels used to transport illegal migrants, but the catch in recent days was particularly notable. Indeed, because of its large size, it was impossible to transport the vessel to the police station. The border police were forced to set up a 24-hour guard to protect the motorboat, thereby increasing the number of sites under guard.
