Zone commissions under PD control

After four hours of heated debate, the Central Election Commission decides The chair, vice-chair and secretary will be appointed by the ruling party The zone commission also reduced its own membership from 9 to 7. Thus, on Thursday, one of the variants proposed by the Presidium Commissions was chosen, at the insistence of chairman Kristo Frashëri. Two opposition commissioners will be removed from the zone commissions. For the polling station commissions, each party and interested association will send only 1 observer each. This decision, taken by majority vote, de facto places the entire electoral process under PD control. The socialists and republicans were against this decision. However, apart from the appeal made during the meeting, as well as in their own circles, democratic activists welcomed this decision. The polling station commissions were approved with 10 votes in favor, including not only the center-right parties but also representatives of Balli and Legaliteti. The three votes against were those of Xhelil Gjoni. The legitimization of the center votes by anti-opposition activists a little more than three months before the elections is seen as the first signal of what is expected by the socialist staff. According to them, the Republican Party is giving up its positions won head-on in support of PD. So, the socialists, with little say in decision-making, and as seems to have been confirmed, are also forced into participation in these structures, while PD, naturally, keeps the June voting under control, without officially risking anything with its statist stance divided into monitoring groups. The Socialist Party will question the opening of the ballot boxes, the composition of the commissions, the voter lists and, in the end, if it does not cause another political crisis, the invalidity of the elections. Nevertheless, the decision came while the opposition had strongly protested the procedures and the spirit of the electoral reform. page 3
