Pëllumbi: Either me, or Nano...
“If Nano submits the report, I resign...”
The General Steering Committee of the PS decides on a report for the Congress
The alarm that “a split is taking place” in the PS has made the divisions that have engulfed the largest organization of the opposition party appear like a wave. Described within the PS as noise of interest for balances or concessions to party members before the elections, when this body has not used Pëllumbi’s name, these divisions have now reached their peak. According to the daily press, yesterday the leadership of the PS approved, after 2 hours of debate, a report for the delegates to the Congress. The idea of sending the report 2-3 days later to the anti-congress delegates who arrived in Lushnjë has involved the entire PS with Pëllumbi and Nano in it. The nominations and comments have erupted into a debate. In the PS there are everything and a majority of the ministers line up together with Pëllumbi for changes in its ranks. One of them, the deputy chairman of the party, openly came out against the request of the anti-Nano grouping, that they seek in this one “the possibility” that if it is placed over the direction of the Central Committee Assembly, settlement with the opposite side. However, the influence in the leading structures of the PS is giving it an unclear force. Yesterday the chairman of the Socialist Assembly was speaking on behalf of this force, not in alliance, but with calculations. In the afternoon the narrow leadership of the PS met, which out of 11 members also had 3 representatives from the group of deputies. Contrary to the party’s latest decision, Nano was withdrawing and was found, according to press reports, in another chairmanship, which according to Pëllumbi is “in the center”, and a person with whom agreement would be needed clearly, only to avoid collapse. While yesterday Pëllumbi was clear that he was asking not only for the convening of the forum with the delegates, but also for the postponement of the congress. “If Nano presents the report, I resign.” This is what the chairman of the KPD of the PS, Servet Pëllumbi, declared before the members of the party leadership. He did not stop there. According to the newspaper “Shekulli”, he asked that the parliamentary group and the leadership meet together, since, as he put it, “we have reached such a state”.

EC studies local government
EU Commissioner Van Den Bruk arrives tomorrow to discuss the elections
There is still no separate study on the issues of administration and local government in Albania, but the European Commission seems to be dealing with this issue. This follows statements by EU officials, who announced that a meeting would be held to look at this level in the Albanian administration. The fact happened yesterday in order to harmonize governance at various levels of administration of the new governments in relation to local units. Likewise, talks with Albanian leaders on this issue within the Commission are expected to intensify as early as the beginning of August.

AIDS alarm: More than 20 sick people are “coexisting” with others
At the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Tirana, staff under the terror of hiding the result
“It is not easy to have an AIDS patient in the room. After the examination, the situation was terrible,” says nurse Shpati. What is needed in a hospital? Calm, recovery time and medical staff. But at the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Tirana, AIDS patients “coexist” with those affected by various diseases. In the absence of conditions to prevent the separation of the infected and the lack of tests, this is what is happening here. “Often it happens that the patient does not know and we discover it,” the nurse stated. The fact has made it known that at the Infectious Diseases Hospital “a scheme is made” to avoid declaring the virus. Some doctors complain that there are no separate rooms for AIDS patients. They demand the establishment of a special ward. Everything happens due to a lack of conditions; the staff feels fear and is moving away from direct contact with these patients. HIV figures are low, but the risk is not excluded. Although the control system is not complete, suspected cases are increasing and in some cases doctors have been put in a difficult position.
