Sali Berisha has a long familiarity with politics and, consequently, a very clear understanding of its dangers. Installed with the help of Berisha’s and the Americans’ political generating force, and also on the assumption that he controlled the police while communism was being cast off, and that the genius, the opposition, the committee, was tempting him with "victory", the head of state was not drunk, because the challenges had come from the left. The PD and power, one could say, were strong and inspired. But not for a system and a man whose public orientation is human force and harsh events, always disregarding the suffering of others. The absurd spectacle we watched on Sunday with our own eyes, with the idiotic production of the sort "these are the killers of Azem Hajdari" will not endanger anyone alone. At most, a part of the SHIK headquarters with posters, and nothing less, will once again bring, for the umpteenth time, the patience and composure of Albanian citizens under the nose of Berisha. In fact, the champion of this job could be on the other side. Why is Berisha today interested in finding the "killers" of the leader of December, precisely on 20 February, when Albania was being threatened with collapse, in the wake of an open door to violence, in order to reconcile an action intended not only to condition but also to agitate and propagandistically support his regime? Berisha was indeed a worthy expression, one that is used very well even when the other kills you a second time; if he did not react and remained stoic, then he is in a tragic scene. And Berisha will be able to turn the 2 April killings into an initial frenzy if necessary. Otherwise, remember that that case is his file, since no line of reasoning is such as not to awaken serious doubts. When, in the middle of this revanchist and disgusting climate, the police call for scandalous self-justice in the Albanian telecommunications sector, the law-enforcement bodies once again lose even that thread of trust among normal citizens who still need and want to respect the rule of law. Especially when we are all witnesses to central hypocrisy. Berisha remembers SHIK when it serves him, while appearing in public "surprised" that this institution has killed people. Tightly and closely bound to his own instrument of violence, it was he himself and his system that fed SHIK with money and privileges, turning it into a guardian by night and by day into that not-so-small force of statements. Of course, Berisha was more successful than the only one who at least once did not treat SHIK as an instrument of power. Even if he were interested, he could not expect from a body that the prime minister and a president like him would deny, through posters, that SHIK was capable of absurdities. This institution could not then become minister of justice, much less an investigator or judge. We know that the chief prosecutor of Tirana does not consider it "competent" to take decisions. But the question is for all Albanians: what do they want to prove and who are those chosen to investigate? What is certain is that the first is Berisha, not the police. Nothing and no one needs to find the "killers" of Azem Hajdari as much as to understand who uses his memory for the purpose of belated propaganda.
