Arrogance is diminishing

And in the first hours, for five years and by force, no one has been playing with arrogance. Arrogance is like a dizziness. But no! The current rulers of the states must calmly move into the other category and silently accept that they have gone. Only a few hours earlier, the former president, who today is trying to leap up the stairs at a gallop and bring back the lost Albania, continues to hide a big question from himself: why did he fall? Why did he lose the whole battle? This kind of question presses into punitive arrogance. Arrogance is like a deep resentment, without fame and without legend. Among the legends before Skanderbeg, he is complaining about losing gasoline in myths. But Albania’s enemies are laughing and changing the scenes. Among the clearest of their images: the torn houses, in front of people and journalists, on a road of mud and gravel. He who thinks himself fallen, stateless, and convinced by hard questions, seeks a name. In truth, the time for speech has come. Enough with questions. The time for citizens’ speech is today. But he has not been silent for a single moment. Whoever has become silent has been addressed with a bigger question: what did you do with the country, Berisha?
Left without its own leader, the people of Durrës had been abandoned earlier. Now they are emerging at the start of a heavier battle. The city streets, the school streets, the streets of civic life, are quiet. At least, that is how it appears at this midday hour. Around the citizens’ necks there are still ropes left from the old anxiety. They are waiting calmly. Until parliament meets. Until something normal begins. Until a normal government comes out of the elections. A new proposal was also sent: a meeting of the Assembly on 15 July. It can even be called hastily. But it is the only way to move away a state that slips from improvisation to improvisation.
