The shadows of “Nano 3”
There is a voluntary tendency that, as with everything else, even a new governing cabinet brings with it not only hope, but also skepticism and distrust. As soon as the names of the new government of the appointed prime minister Ilir Meta[?] and of the other President Rexhep Meidani[?] were announced, attention immediately focused on what Nano the Third will be. There is no doubt that this new government, chosen on 29 June, closed a highly tragic chapter for Albania and opened, sooner or later, a prospect of change for the country. But from the moment Nano made the cabinet composition public, with Nano as prime minister, skepticism and speculation erupted and took hold. Accusations of the creation of a PS government, the coalition made up of democrats, republicans and others, the future prime minister Nano will govern the country in an autocratic manner, and moreover he has placed his own people in government. In any case, it is completely normal that the new government, which had to face a very difficult reality, comes after a long ordeal that must be overcome as quickly as possible. Nano and the cabinet ministers he has chosen must immediately begin work, which without exaggeration truly resembles in its nature a rescue operation or at least the reestablishment of a minimum of normality. Nano had not yet gone and had not yet taken the oath before the President when dozens of messages and conspiracies about governing the third government arrived. It is learned that some time ago, in the Nano 1 and 2 governments, representatives of governments and diplomatic missions had relations with cabinet duties. Again, this government has now provoked anger in the opposition, which has also issued strong comments and rhetorical questions to the prime minister. The loudest and most critical toward the new cabinet is Nano[?]. PDS's Arben Imami. Asked whether his position in the Ministry of Defence means an effort by the left-wing majority to have him in government, Imami says he accepted such a thing without any complex. Wanting to calm matters despite the questions and the crisis, Nano also spoke yesterday about relations with the US, describing them as very important. He also asked the opposition to let him govern, and said that in his government there is no one incriminated. Nano stated that the statements have nothing to do with politics but are ridiculous. Speaking about the work the government will do, he said the main goal will be the restoration of order and calm and the enforcement of the law throughout the country. Wanting to give a little hope to impoverished and worried citizens, Nano said that the government he will lead will have neither black cars for ministers nor excessive guards. He added that the government's urgent priorities will be the return of weapons, the restoration of order, the distribution of aid, and the guarantee of free and fair local elections.
