Meta-Nano, a battle of nerves
The unclear tendency of the group toward a path of compromise, replacing part of the former socialists in recent times, as reflected in their relations with RESSH, was seen as “ambiguous” and with completely unclear aims. What he proposed to the leadership of the forum of 60 socialists are “strong” moves from the chairman of the parliamentary group, who has long been the PSSH’s governing partner in a unified government. Alongside these developments came cooperation as well. Moreover, together with this atmosphere, circles at the highest level of the socialist government are talking about Ilir Meta of the PS and about offering him a ministerial post. A formula of illusion that Mr. Nano did not often oppose, having placed the chief in a key post/institution?, even though the situation in the country remained difficult. Nano and the government led by him are moving at a slower pace in reforming the administration and are creating a contradictory and unclear climate. Brought into the prime minister’s office, in the event of a conflict with the leaders of the left-wing youth forum, the return of women? to the ministry in government? of the party and of the young in government? of the country was halted. Yesterday afternoon, as soon as the meeting of the presidium of RESSH ended, where the main issue discussed was Nano’s unprecedented stance toward Ilir Meta and the PS youth forum, as well as the new appointments in the government without any clarification of the situation. Nano and his government are proclaiming a role that they do not have every day, in the West, to justify their own stance. It was further said that the entire perception of this government was that it was acting with a kind of “pressure” and “strain” to avoid dangerous rivalry for some of the senior government leaders. Meanwhile, in the presidium of RESSH, the chairman of this youth forum, Meta, gave a long analysis of Prime Minister Nano’s position. In fact, Meta, since the government is bypassing not only ethics but also the tradition of agreements with PS and RESSH, characterized his sudden departure as an act with a clear political effect. He, referring to the decision of the presidium of the PSSH youth forum, said that “putting the agreements into action will harm not only internal relations with this political force, but also the left coalition as a whole.” According to Meta, this was a guided move that brought back to the center of attention “the issue of revenge.”
An important element of this meeting was also the position of the secretary for youth of the General Council of PSSH, Maqo Lakrori, who stressed that they fully agree with the positions of the presidium of the youth forum. Likewise, the member of the presidium, in line with the position of the secretary of the General Council of PSSH, Musa Ulqini, said that “we are united in our positions and will not allow any kind of pressure from anyone.”
Reminding the leader of PSSH of a series of political agreements, the leaders of RESSH asked that the obligations undertaken in congresses and forums be respected. It was even mentioned that Ilir Meta had been part of the highest body of socialist leadership and that his removal from the government or the disregard of the demands of this forum could not remain without consequences for the climate within the political force. During the meeting it was said that the chairman of PSSH has begun “revenge” against structures that are not fully aligned with him.
Specifically regarding the case of Ilir Meta’s removal, it was said that the pressure on him is not related to his performance, but to internal political balances. Precisely this situation has brought strong reactions in the socialist youth structures and in the forums that have supported Meta. The positions made public yesterday are expected to have further consequences in the Nano-Meta relations.
