The Challenge of the Democratic Party
BY BLENDI FEYZIU
The democratic end and today’s descent into fog come from quarrels over representation, the transfer of legitimacy on 22 January, the loss of control over the grassroots, the need for political recomposition and the high price of a politics of the axe. Almost all of these phenomena, clearly visible in the Democratic Party after the 28 June elections, can be found reflected more than five months later in the latest stance of its chairman Sali Berisha. At least in essence. Without wanting to make a long, almost Marxist analysis of a political behavior, we must say that at its core there is a postulate. The leader of the Democratic Party has still not developed into a modern politician and struggles to reflect on the vital dimension of change. This fate is what the 25–30 percent of right-wing members and the configuration of its voters are reserving for themselves, in line with the simple logic with which he ignited Albania on 6 June 1994; the people, 78% of Albanians, took power with a revolver, those whom we have numbered, no doubt, and called ridiculous. They have understood things by watching the developments of 6 June 1994, by watching the six weeks of the September 1998 revolt, by watching the 25–30 percent of members whose ground slipped from under their feet while moving on the couch today exactly as they see it.
With this philosophy in mind, the congress, the Democratic Party seems to be staged, driven from the center to the squares, filled with our faces and with composed people.
In this context of conjunction, the Democratic Party seems to seek a different spirit of feeling for a living politician. The leader of the Democratic Party is giving its party another function, turning the mechanism of the heart into the proper act of national compromise.
If this personal, set role goes toward the impossibility of creating a broader and more moderate coalition, if it remains closed to reality and trapped by the old logic, then once again the Democratic Party will become a producer of opposition, but not of hope.

Prime Minister Majko’s reaction after the front-page article in 'Koha Jonë'
Deputy Prime Minister Majko has declared that he will conduct a detailed investigation into the issue concerning the Albanian ambassador’s affairs in Turkey and the transport of goods by plane. The Prime Minister is surprised. It is learned that the Ministry of Defence’s Air Force returned to the government on Monday the defence ministry’s supplement with the transport seal. Quoted by the Turkish press courier, the Prime Minister said that the above-mentioned issue had reached him through the press. It is learned that after the news published in 'Koha Jonë' there came a quick reaction from Fatos Nano. The Prime Minister has asked his chief of staff, [name?], and the government spokesperson to carry out official verifications on this matter. The Prime Minister said he was convinced that in the past the government and its structures have often denied public accusations. 'I cannot accept any [violation?] and I am determined to enforce the law against anyone',
